Cracked or shattered screens
A dropped or knocked lid is the most common job we do. We check whether only the panel, only the glass, or the cable flex has failed — that decides the price more than the brand does.
Paarl & the Winelands
Cracked screen, battery that dies in an hour, a hinge that will not hold, coffee down the keyboard, or a machine that has simply got slow. We diagnose the fault first, tell you what is actually wrong, and put the price in writing before we start.

Most of these are routine, and most are same-day if the part is on the shelf. Two of them have their own pages because there is more to them than a one-line fix.
A dropped or knocked lid is the most common job we do. We check whether only the panel, only the glass, or the cable flex has failed — that decides the price more than the brand does.
Short runtime, sudden shutdowns, or a trackpad that lifts because the cell has bulged. A swollen battery is a safety issue, so stop using it and bring it in.
A screen that flops open or will not stay put is usually a broken hinge or bracket, not a failed display. Cheaper to fix than a screen, and if it is left too long it takes the lid with it.
Tea, coffee, wine or rain. We strip the machine, clean the board, treat corrosion and test it under load. Liquid damage keeps developing, so we always test properly rather than just switching it on.
Missing keys, a dead trackpad, or a power button that needs pressing twice. Often a membrane or flex fault that is far cheaper to replace than the whole top case.
A hard drive full of Windows, or memory that has never been upgraded. Cloning to an SSD and adding RAM is usually the single biggest improvement you can make to an older laptop.
These have enough moving parts — parts sourcing, model-specific locks, booking the machine in — that they deserve their own page.
Panel sourcing, brightness and colour matching after fitting, touch testing, and the models we have to book in because the supplier needs the panel item code read off the machine first.
Quality cells, a 6-month warranty, and an honest heads-up if your model refuses aftermarket batteries — which is common on Dell, Asus and some HP Executive machines.
MacBook screens, keyboards and batteries are replaced at our Paarl workshop, with genuine parts and the correct warranty paperwork. Tell us the fault and we will arrange it.
No work is booked in until you have seen a written quote and said yes to it.
We take the laptop in and find the actual cause — not just the symptom you noticed. This is the part that decides whether a repair is worth doing.
You get the fault, the part and the price in writing, on WhatsApp or email. Nothing is ordered and no work starts until you approve it.
The work is done at the bench, usually the same visit. If we find something the quote did not cover, we stop and check with you first.
We test it through — boot, load, battery, display and ports — then hand it back with a 6-month warranty on the work and the parts.
Part availability and the way a machine is put together differ a lot between brands, but the diagnostic process is the same.
Pavilion, ProBook, EliteBook and Envy. Common hinges and batteries are usually in stock.
Inspiron, Latitude, XPS and Vostro. Note that many Dell laptops will refuse a third-party battery — we tell you before ordering.
ThinkPad, IdeaPad and Yoga. Frequent hinge work, and screens are widely available.
VivoBook, ZenBook, Swift, Aspire and the wider Asus and Acer ranges.
Gaming and ultrabook models, plus the Samsung notebook range.
Dynabook, older business lines and the wider Windows laptop market.
Most MacBook work — screens, batteries, keyboards, software updates, servicing and cleaning — is done at our Paarl workshop. See the MacBook page. Not listed? Send us the exact model number and we will tell you straight away whether it is worth repairing.
Most repairs happen at the bench, so it is worth bringing the machine in. If it is too heavy or too awkward to transport, call us first — there may be a better option.
We are at 62 Bosch, Northern Paarl, Paarl, 7646. Open Monday to Friday 08:00–17:00 and weekends 09:00–13:00, so there is almost always someone in.
Customers across the Winelands regularly drive in. Bring the laptop rather than the charger — seeing the machine with its original adapter usually speeds up the diagnosis.

Tell us the make, the model and what it is doing. We will come back with a diagnosis and a written quote — usually the same working day.
The things people ask before they bring a laptop in. If your question is not here, WhatsApp us — we would rather answer it up front than after you have driven in.
Software faults, RAM and SSD upgrades and most keyboard repairs are usually done while you wait. Screens and batteries depend on stock — if the part is in the workshop it is typically same-day, otherwise we order it and tell you exactly when to expect it.
You get a written quote before we start, and that quote is the price. We do not add work on the bench without asking you first. If a fault turns out to be worse than it looked when the machine is opened, we stop and re-quote.
HP, Dell, Lenovo, Asus, Acer, MSI, Samsung, Toshiba and the usual business lines. MacBook screens, keyboards, batteries, software updates, servicing and cleaning are done at our Paarl workshop. Board-level repair goes to Reset Lab in Cape Town.
Often yes. We strip it, clean the board, treat any corrosion and test it properly under load before and after. Damage from liquid keeps working long after the spill, so a machine that switches on after a clean is not proof it will stay working — we will tell you honestly how risky it is.
Usually yes. We back up where the fault allows it before touching storage, and we never wipe or reformat a drive without asking you first. If the drive itself is failing, we stop and talk to you before doing anything that could make a recovery harder.
Often not. Depending on the model only the LCD panel, only the glass and digitiser, or only the cable flex has failed. We replace the cheapest part that actually fixes it, and we will tell you which one it is before quoting.
Yes. Some manufacturers — notably Dell, Asus and some HP Executive models — lock third-party batteries out with a BIOS check that can reject the machine or simply refuse to charge the cell. We will tell you before ordering anything, and fit an original part if that is what it takes.
Six months on all repair work and the parts we fit. If the same fault comes back within that time we will put it right at no charge.
